Maca Root

Maca root is also referred to as Peruvian Ginseng or Lepidium meyenii. It is native to the highland regions of the Andes in Peru, most predominately in the surrounding Lake Junin areas. This root vegetable has been used by cultures in that area for more than 2,000 years. Maca root was consumed for both nutritional purposes and its effects as an aphrodisiac. This root was considered to be a rich delicacy by the Andean Inca Indians. Today it is still used around the world for its nutritional content, to promote positive sexual health, and as a healthy sweetener for culinary purposes.
